Qamishlo - The tent action launched by HPC-Jin in front of the UN office in Qamishlo has ended on its 35th day. On the last day of the tent action, the members of the Civil Defense Forces (HPC) and HPC-Jin, women's structure of HPC, held a march. People of Qamishlo also participated in the march and condemned the Turkish attacks targeting civilians. The march started in front of the 12th Aadrê Stadium and ended in front of the UN office.
Letter to HPC and HPC-Jin
UN Representation in Qamishlo gave a letter to HPC and HPC-Jin in response to the demands of the people participating in the tent action.
“On August 18, four girls were killed and 11 people were injured in the attack on Hasakah. In the rocket attack on a market in the northern Syrian city of Al-Bab on August 19, 13 civilians, including nine children, were killed and 28 people were injured. This shows us that children and women are targeted in the ongoing clashes and conflicts in the Syrian regions. We, as the UN Representation in Qamishlo, offer our condolences to the families of the killed people and wish the injured people to recover soon. We also invite all concerned parties to work together for a safe Syria. The protection of civilians is important for the Syrian people to have a safe and peaceful life,” the letter said.
“HPC-Jin has resisted for 35 days”
Speaking to NuJINHA, HPC-Jin member Fadya Silêman said, “Our action was launched on 12 August in front of the UN office in Qamishlo against Turkey's invading attacks and airstrikes and to call for the Syrian airspace to be closed to Turkish warplanes. We wanted to make our voices heard by the United Nations because they should have seen their role here and taken responsibility for stopping the attacks. We, as HPC-Jin, have held our action for 35 days and we will achieve a successful result.”
“We obtain a result”
HPC-Jin member Wetha Wanikî noted that they obtain a result from their action. “We held a march to end our tent action. Hundreds of the people of Qamishlo participated in the march to express their reactions.” She also underlined that the tent action was held by the HPC-Jin and Kongra Star. Wetha Wanikî also noted that they will continue to hold different actions and protests to condemn the Turkish attacks targeting civilians.
