Political prisoner Leila Hosseinzadeh: Resistance has no limit
Women resist Iran’s Hijab law not only on the streets but also in prisons. Political prisoner Leila Hosseinzadeh sent a letter from prison. “Resistance has no limit,” she wrote in her letter.
News Center- Women keep taking to the streets across Iran by chanting, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (English: Women, Life, Freedom)” while women prisoners resist in prisons. Political prisoner Leila Hosseinzadeh sent a letter reading, “Resistance has no limit” from prison and announced that they, as women prisoners, resist the Hijab law despite difficult conditions in prison. Sending the letter through her family, she said that women prisoners do not wear hijab in the prison to protest the Hijab law.
“The resistance of women will bring revolution”
In her letter, Leila Hosseinzadeh wrote, “For the resistance, there is no difference between the streets and the prisons. We stand against persecution everywhere. Resistance has no limit. All women in the prison feel the uprising outside every second. We believe that the resistance of women will bring the revolution with it. Now, I am behind bars. Whenever I go to bed and wake up, I hear the noise of the iron bars. But I keep struggling.”
She is denied access to her medicines
Leila Hosseinzadeh’s family shared her letter on social media platforms and reported that the health condition of Leila Hosseinzadeh is deteriorating. Underlining that Leila Hosseinzadeh has not received any treatment both inside and outside of the prison, her family wrote that she is denied access to her medicines. Suffering from Crohn's disease, Leila Hosseinzadeh, a student activist and student of anthropology at Tehran University, was arrested on December 7, 2021, while visiting Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province in southern Iran.
