Sara Organization launches campaign to eliminate violence against women
The Euphrates Region Sara Organization, a women’s organization, has launched a campaign to eliminate violence against women.
Kobanê – As the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is approaching, the Euphrates Region Sara Organization, a women’s organization, has launched a campaign to eliminate all forms of violence against women.
They will carry out activities and events for two months
The organization has issued a statement and said, “Violence against women is against human rights. Gender-based violence is a multi-dimensional phenomenon that threatens women and societies and disrupts the balance of our world. It is such a phenomenon that; creates a negative impact and causes a disaster. It breaks family ties, causes divorces, child marriage and poverty. Violence against women keeps increasing in North and East Syria due to the ongoing attacks and threats of the Turkish state because women are the most affected by the ongoing war. Women are subjected to violence and crimes. Such incidents are on the rise in our region, where we want to create a democratic and free society. In order to eliminate all forms of violence and crimes against women, we will carry out activities and events for two months.”
Violence and femicide cases are on the rise
Fewziya Henîfî, member of the Euphrates Region Sara Organization, spoke to NuJINHA about their campaign and said, “The Sara Organization has carried out activities and events to end gender-based violence in North and East Syria. We have launched this campaign to eliminate violence against women by holding awareness-raising activities, workshops, seminars and meetings. Violence against women and femicide cases are on the rise so this campaign is needed.”
