Members of Peace Mothers’ Initiative die in car accident

Adalet Safalı and Perişan Akçelik, members of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, and Perişan Akçelik’s son Cihan Akçelik have died in a car accident while returning from Van to Gever after testifying to the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

News Center- Adalet Safalı and Perişan Akçelik, members of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, were summoned to testify on the grounds that they were not at home during the raid on their home in Colemêrg (Hakkari) on 15 August.

They went to Van from Gever (Yüksekova) to testify to the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday (August 22). They decided to return to Gever since the prosecutor was not at office. On the way back, their car collided with a van. Adalet Safalı, Perişan Akçelik and her son Cihan Akçelik died at the scene of the accident.

Adalet Safalı was laid to rest

Last night, Adalet Safalı was laid to rest in Memkava Village Cemetery. A funeral ceremony will be held for Perişan Akçelik and her son Cihan Akçelik in the Esendere town of Gever today at 1pm. According to the received reports, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, Co-spokesperson of the Green Left Party, Saliha Aydeniz, Saliha Aydeniz, Co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Green Left Party MPs and members will attend the funeral.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) released a statement on its official social media account. The statement said, “The ruling party which uses the judiciary as a tool against the Peace Mothers and Saturday Mothers is the main responsible for these deaths.”
