Meeting in Algeria on women's economic empowerment

Tunisian Minister Amel Moussa Belhaj met with Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to discuss how to promote women's economic empowerment.

Tunisia- Amel Moussa Belhaj, the Minister of Women, Family, Children, and Seniors had a meeting with Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to discuss how to promote women's economic empowerment and development new projects for women during the international forum on Women's Struggle in Algeria.

Conference for elders

At the meeting, two women discussed the strategies and plans for elders in the Arab countries. After the meeting and the preliminary preparations for the organization of an Arab conference for elders. The conference will be reportedly held in Tunisia in October 2022.

New project in cooperation with the CSW

Two women also discussed to start a new project in cooperation with the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) to promote women's economic empowerment and gender equality at in the labor force as part of the Cairo Declaration for Arab Women and the Strategic Plan for Women Empowerment in the Arab Region, 2030 Development Agenda.

Amel Moussa Belhaj spoke about the Ministry’s efforts for children. She talked about the public kindergarten program designed by the ministry to increase the number of preschools for children living in rural areas in order to create equal opportunities for all Tunisian children.
