Journalist Parisa Salehi released from prison

Parisa Salehi, an economics reporter for the state-run financial newspaper Donya-e-Eqtesad, has been released from prison six days before the end of her prison sentence.

News Center- Parisa Salehi, an economics reporter for the state-run financial newspaper Donya-e-Eqtesad and student activist, was released from Kachouei prison in Karaj on Tuesday, six days before the end of her prison sentence.

The journalist announced her release from the prison on her social media account.

On January 24, 2024, the Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced Parisa Salehi to one year in prison, a two-year ban on leaving the country, two years of internal exile, and a two-year ban on social media use on charges of “spreading propaganda against the system” for her reports.

Her prison sentence was later reduced by an appeals court to five months. On April 21, she was summoned to the Karaj Justice Department to begin serving her 5-month prison term.

On April 28, she was arrested on April 28 and was immediately transferred to the Kachouei prison in Karaj to serve her five-month prison sentence.
