Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon kill more than 50 people

Israeli airstrikes on different parts of Lebanon on Thursday killed at least 50 people and injured dozens, the Lebanese health ministry said on Friday.
According to the ministry, intensified Israeli airstrikes in 10 towns of Baalbek province killed 40 people, five in Tyre province, and seven in Nabatiyeh province.
Displacement continues
Displacement continues in Lebanon amid Israel’s renewed evacuation orders and air strikes, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Thursday.
More than 880,000 people have been displaced within the country, including more than 20,000 migrants, who have been forced to flee both their homes and their workplaces, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
“It is important to reiterate that civilians must be protected regardless of whether they choose to stay or whether they choose to leave,” Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said in a press briefing on Thursday.
Since October 8, 2023, at least 3,583 people have been killed and 15,244 others injured in Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
