Ghazni- For two years since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan; women have been banned from every sphere of life, including education and work. Farida Tejali is only one of the women, whose right to education has been taken away from them. Being a university fourth-year student at a university in Afghanistan, she has been banned from attending the university since the Taliban takeover.

‘Only men can go to university’

Farida Tejali thinks there is no logical reason for the ban on women’s education. “We, as women, have not been allowed to continue our education. The education at universities has started for four months; however, only men can go to university.”

‘I do not give up on science’

Farida Tejali told us that before the ban on women’s education, the Taliban only imposed clothing rules on female students. “I learned that the Taliban banned women from university through the media. Since then, I study at home, trying to learn new things. I do not feel despair, give up on science. I still read, write and draw.”

In the interview with NuJINHA, Farida Tejali called on Afghan women not to feel despair. “They can improve themselves despite the ban. I call on them to learn more not to surrender to the current situation and conditions.”
