Amed -The Justice Watch started by the families of prisoners demanding the release of sick prisoners and the prisoners, who are not released despite having completed their sentences, has entered its 315 day. For 315 days, the families have gathered in front of the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) in Diyarbakır or the Diyarbakır Courthouse to issue a press statement with the support of the members of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the Association for Solidarity with Families of Arrestees (TUAY-DER), the Association of Assistance and Solidarity with Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER) and the Mesopotamia Language, Culture and Research Association (MED-DER).
“We will struggle inside and outside”
Making a speech during the action, İnci Güler stated that they have been seeking justice for 11 months. While Devlet Bahçeli, Minister of Justice and Erdoğan have passed laws to release their supporters, our children have been held behind bars. We will resist everywhere for the rights of our children. We will follow in their footsteps and cause. Our children have been held behind bars although they are innocent. They have released all criminals from prison. Although our children have served 30 years in prison, they haven’t been released. We do not accept this. Our children will struggle inside while we, as their families, will struggle outside.”
Call on families of prisoners
In her speech, İnci Güler called on all families of prisoners and said, “We call on all families of prisoners to be the voices of their children. I am also a relative of a sick prisoner. My brother should be released from prison. All sick prisoners should be released immediately.”
