QAMISHLO– The women's village "Jinwar" constitutes a model for building a free and independent life for women, and has attracted the attention of a women's delegation that arrived from northern Kurdistan to Rojava on the seventh of October. This prompted the delegation, composed of five women, to visit the village and closely learn about its experience.

This visit acquires special importance due to the opportunity it provides to learn about women's experiences and achievements in the field of building a life based on freedom and independence.

During the tour, the Co-Chair of Tetouan Municipality, Belkiza Beshtash Ibuzdemir, spoke to our agency about the importance of establishing a village specifically for women, and its role in entrenching the foundations of a free and independent life that allows women to build their reality with their own will and efforts.

"Women Build Their Economy with Their Own Hands"

Belkiza Beshtash Ibuzdemir expressed her feelings toward her visit to Jinwar village. "This is the first time I visit Rojava, and during this visit I came to Jinwar village. I feel great enthusiasm. Many women who previously lived under the yoke of oppression and masculine violence headed to Jinwar, in order to live a free life." She noted that "this village enjoys dignity, and undoubtedly women need villages of this kind. What drew my attention most is that women build their economy with their own hands."

"Every Part of This Village Was Built by Women's Hands and Efforts"

Belkiza Beshtash Ibuzdemir explained that the Jinwar village project gave her strength. "When one enters this village, one immediately feels that women live here, because they established the village with their own hands. Every part of this village was built by women's hands and efforts. This gave me real strength, because it shows that women are capable of building a free and successful life, and Jinwar is the best example of that."

She noted the necessity for women in Jinwar village to develop their projects further and expand their scope. "Thanks to women's efforts and strength, unity can be built between women in Jinwar and women in other parts of the world. From my point of view, it is necessary for women to further enhance their capabilities in the field of agriculture, and in all the projects they implement in Jinwar. This will increase the influence of this village on the women of the world, and will be a reason for enabling women to build a village similar to Jinwar in every country."

"We Will Seek to Build a Village Similar to Jinwar"

Belkiza Beshtash Ibuzdemir said that what drew her attention in Jinwar is the lifestyle harmonious with women's nature. "What drew my attention most in Jinwar is the life harmonious with women's nature. From building houses to all aspects of life in this village, everything was innovated by women's hands and efforts. This brought back to my memory memories of my childhood. We will seek to build a village similar to it in northern Kurdistan as well."

She believes that Jinwar village, thanks to its distinctive project, has drawn the attention of many women around the world. "Jinwar village has become an important model throughout the world. We have always wondered and aspired to come one day to this village, and see closely how women build a free life with their own hands and efforts."

"Our Strength Lies in Our Unity"

Belkiza Beshtash Ibuzdemir stressed at the end of her interview that the struggle of Kurdish women is one of the greatest forms of struggle, and called on women to struggle together for their freedom and rights. "It is necessary that we struggle together for women's freedom and rights. Our strength will only increase through our unity as women. If we do not unite and struggle together, the masculine mentality will work to divide us and weaken our strength."
