Afghan Women: Do not recognize the Taliban

The Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Women (SMAW) has released a statement condemning the Taliban's policies against women and girls and calling on the international community not to recognize the Taliban.

News Center- The members of the Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Women (SMAW) gathered in Kabul on Wednesday, May 31, and released a statement calling for schools to be reopened for girls and the removal of restrictions against women.

Referring to the journey of the first female astronaut from Saudi Arabia, the statement said, “While an Arab Muslim woman can go to space, why are Muslim women and girls deprived of education in our country?”

Criticizing the delivery of the cash aid package of $40 million in humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan every week, the statement said, “It is a betrayal against the people of the country, who are deprived of their rights.” In the statement, the women called on the international community not to recognize the Taliban.
