11 women detained in Batman

11 women, including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) district and provincial co-chairs, were detained in house raids conducted in the city of Batman.

News Center- Police conducted house raids in the city of Batman in the morning.

After the search in the houses, police detained 11 women. The names of the women are: HDP's dismissed Batman Co-mayor Songül Korkmaz, Bekirhan Co-mayor Gülistan Sönük, Kozluk Co-mayor Nazime Avcı, former HDP Batman Provincial Co-chair Fatma Ablay, Batman Municipal Council member Semra Güneş, HDP Batman Central District Co-chair Gurbet Doğan, Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists Gurbet Bozyiğit, Halide Keser, Gulnur Deli, Zeynep Oduncu and Ruken Zeryam.

While the reason for their detention is still unknown, according to received reports, the women have been taken to the Batman Provincial Security Directorate.
