Young Egyptian woman survives attempted murder after 27 stab wound

A young Egyptian woman in her twenties was subjected to a brutal assault by her former fiancé, who stabbed her about 27 times before plunging the knife into her head.

News Center – At a time when demands are escalating in Egypt for harsher penalties and deterring aggressors, the latest crime adds a new chapter to a painful series of violations that women pay the price for.

The Al‑Maasara area in Helwan witnessed one of the most heinous crimes that shook the Egyptian street and ignited social media, after the young woman Shahd Ahmed, 21 years old, was subjected to a bloody assault by her former fiancé following disputes between them that ended with the engagement being broken off.

The crime, characterized by extreme violence, sparked a wave of widespread anger due to its unjustified cruelty and complete lack of humanity.

According to investigations, the perpetrator lay in wait for the victim as she was returning from work, then suddenly attacked her, stabbing her about 27 times in various parts of her body – a brutal assault that ended with him plunging the weapon into her head and leaving it embedded in her skull. He then fled, in a shocking scene that left onlookers and followers astonished.

The girl was immediately transferred to Qasr Al‑Ainy Hospital in very critical condition, with the knife embedded in the skull at a highly sensitive spot surrounded by delicate facial nerves and muscles that cannot bear any error. The girl's condition stabilized after surgery.

In response, security authorities announced the arrest of the perpetrator, affirming that necessary legal measures would be taken against him, amid escalating calls to deter violence against women and tighten penalties on perpetrators, as such incidents threaten societal security and reveal the danger of emotional breakdown when it turns into deadly violence.
