“Cejna Pîr Shalyar” celebrated in Hawraman
The people came together for Cejna Pîrşayar (English: The festival of Pir Shalyar, a Zoroastrian priest) which is welcomed in winter with celebrations in Rojhilat Kurdistan, particularly in Hawraman.
News Center- In Iran and Rojhilat, The festival of Pir Shalyar, a Zoroastrian priest (Kurdish: Cejna Pîrşayar) was welcomed with celebrations. The extreme cold weather and snowfall could not prevent the celebrations that took place yesterday at 15.00. People danced in snow, women wore their tradition clothes and some women removed their headscarves to protest the Iranian regime.
Many people from many cities such as Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Marivan, Paveh, Javanrud, Baneh, Saqez, Tehran, cities in north of Iran, cities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq such as Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Kalar, participated in the celebrations held in Hawraman. The celebrations started after people greeted each other. Then, the people of Hawraman gave candies to the guests. Dervishes from Hewreman performed the rituals to welcome the festival of Pir Shalyar.
The celebrations for the Festival of Pir Shalyar goes back hundreds of years ago. The celebrations last three days.
