Women, children contain in candidates' election campaigns in Algeria

Algeria will hold the local election on November 27. Houria Ulbseer, a candidate of the Democratic National Rally, spoke to NuJINHA about her works for women within the scope of her election campaign.

Algeria- 877 candidates, including 281 independent candidates will run for the local elections to be held in Algeria on November 27 to determine 1,158 council members in 58 provinces. 4,860 candidates, including 988 independent candidates will run for the local election to determine the mayors of 541 municipalities in the country. The election campaigns for the snap elections started on November 4. The Algerian people are not happy with the election campaigns due to the difficult social conditions and rising prices.

“Equality is an important point”

Houria Ulbseer, a candidate of the Democratic National Rally, runs for mayor seat of the Oued Smar city. She spoke to NuJINHA about her election campaign. Stating that her election campaign contains many aspects including local government, ethics in elected councils, the municipal administration of social and sports affairs, education, and investment, Houria Ulbseer said, “Equality is an important point in the electoral lists and women candidates help other candidates to prepare and present projects that serve the interests of women and children.”

Expressing that her party's campaign program is devoted to the understanding of gender and the relationship between women and children and to sponsorship the educational institutions to improve the education system, Houria Ulbseer stressed that the party program proposes the development of a social map at the municipal level in order to provide assistance for all marginalized groups throughout the year.
