‘'The massacres committed by Iran and the Turkish state should not be considered separately'
HDP MP Dersim Dağ, who emphasized that the massacres committed by Iran against protesters and by the Turkish state in North and East Syria should not be considered separately, said their fear shows how free women build free societies.
Amed – While the popular uprising that sparked in Rojhilat and Iran following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini continues, the women’s struggle for freedom with the slogan “Jin Jiyan Azadi” has spread all over the world. Inspired by the slogan of the Revolution in North and East Syria, the women have taken to the streets of Rojhilat and Iran although they face massacres and the policy of intimidation as the women inspired them face the Turkish attacks in NE Syria. The Turkish state launched airstrikes on Rojava under the pretext of the explosion in Istanbul’s Taksim on November 13. The aim of the ongoing airstrikes is to destroy the achievements of the revolution and the women’s struggle.
Until now, 14 people, including civilians and a journalist, have been killed in the airstrikes on Rojava. As the people of the region are determined to resist attacks, all countries remain silent against the ongoing attacks. NuJINHA spoke to Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Amed MP Dersim Dağ about the Turkish airstrikes on North and East Syria. “Iran and Turkey carry out attacks because they are afraid of the paradigm of free women,” she told us.
‘Genocidal and repression policies have been carried out for years’
Pointing out that the Kurdish people have been subjected to genocidal and repression policies in the Middle East for hundreds of years, Dersim Dağ said, “Today, the Turkish state aims to commit a genocide on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. For this reason, it put a war policy into effect in both Southern Kurdistan and Rojava. We know very well that this policy is a policy to destroy the Kurdish struggle for freedom.”
‘They fear the spread of the libertarian paradigm’
Highlighting that the identity of free women spreading from North and East Syria to all over the Middle East scares the states, Dersim Dağ said that the attacks target this paradigm. Pointing to the ongoing attacks on the region, whose revolution has become a role model to the whole world, Dersim Dağ said, “The Turkish state attacks Rojava under the pretext of the Taksim explosion, which was planned by itself and killed its own citizens. The real reason why it attacks Rojava is that it aims to attack the libertarian, ecological women's struggle and paradigm. It is obvious that this paradigm has destroyed all the existing systems of the states and the policies of exploitation on women. They are afraid that this paradigm in Rojava will spread in the Middle East.”
‘Women are ready to fight at any cost’
Underlining that they are ready to resist all attacks on women and youths, Dersim Dağ concluded her speech by saying, “The massacres committed by Iran and the Turkish state should not be considered separately. The ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ slogan turned into a philosophy and paradigm by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan comes to life in Rojava today. Today, we see the reflections of this paradigm in Iran, the most barbaric and brutal state in the Middle East. The Turkish state attacks Rojava because this paradigm has been practiced in Rojava. Women play an important role in fighting these attacks. The women’s struggle in both Rojhilat and Rojava must be strengthened to fight oppression and femicide. Women are ready to fight oppression and attacks on them at any cost.”
