NEWS CENTER_Since the 1990s until today, the wars and developemnts witnessed in the Middle East region have been described as the Third World War. Since the Gulf War that erupted in 1991, and the military and policial interventions in the Middle East, these interventions have not stopped targeting the four parts of Kurdistan, especially Rojava in recent years.
Hostile Forces Stand Against Women's Freedom and Democratic Modernity
In 2021, the United States handed Afghanistan over to the Taliban movement and withdrew from it. In November 2024, Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which is considered an extension of Al-Qaeda, took control of Aleppo, and reached Damascus within eight days. Al-Julani, who was internationally wanted on terrorism charges and for whom there was a financial reward for anyone providing information leading to his capture, was installed as head of state under the name Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
The dominant system led by the United States, Britain, and Israel, based on the nation-state approach, stands in the face of the democratic nation approach, which brings together oppressed peoples, beliefs, cultures, women, and all components on the basis of freedom, and establishes brotherhood between peoples. The forces hostile to the democratic nation model and the democratic integration system, which is based on democratic confederalism, stand against women's freedom and democratic modernity. Therefore, backward Islamic currents, which are being used, seek to take revenge on leader Abdullah Öcalan, the freedom system, and the free women's movement.
The influence of the societal freedom revolution and the women's revolution has spread from Kurdistan to the Middle East and the world. There is no difference between the practices of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which targets the Alawite, Shia, Druze, Kurdish communities and women, and the policies of the Taliban movement.
Through slavery and backwardness, they want to impose their dominance over the freedom front that was formed and developed in the face of the ongoing struggle for thirteen years in Rojava, which raises the slogan of the freedom of peoples and beliefs.
Turkey, which does not want the will of free Kurds to prevail in the region, and does not want the brotherhood of peoples to be formed on the basis of the culture and awareness of the democratic nation, has been the planner and manager of these attacks. It does not want a Kurdish presence or recognition of a political status for the Kurdish people in any part of Kurdistan.
At the same time, leader Öcalan, in the face of the nation-state and the mentality of power that rely on policies of denial, genocide, and forced assimilation, proposed the solution of the democratic nation, leading to the development of the concept of democratic integration in the recent phase.
This approach, which allows, through its self-administration, the absorption of the various peoples of the region within a common framework, has found an important resonance in the region and the world. At the forefront of these developments, the Rojava Revolution contributed to preparing the ground for the democratic nation, women's freedom, and free life throughout Kurdistan and the Middle East, and strengthened the hopes of women in the world and oppressed peoples in building a free life.
In the areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the organization of peoples and society on the basis of the democratic nation, and the embodiment of the democratic modernity model, formed a great hope for all oppressed peoples. However, in the face of these endeavors proposed by leader Öcalan, and with the help of the dominant powers and according to ideological and political plans, armed groups described as gangs, operating under the name of the Syrian army, launched attacks on Rojava.
Attempts to Undermine Confidence in the Democratic Nation
Likewise, they sought, especially through special war and psychological war, to spread distrust in the democratic nation model. The armed groups that were trained and organized on the basis of racist mentality, looting, and the brutality of assaults, alongside some tribes cooperating with them, tried to drag the Arab people into the trap of nationalism, and to plant distrust toward the unity of peoples and shared life.
Some nationalist, extremist, and backward persons, who cooperate with the Syrian interim government on the basis of a shared perception, deliberately work to stir up unrest in Hasakah city, and launch attacks of a racist nature, especially those emanating from the mentality of dominance and assault. A specific role has been assigned to them in this phase, and they have been pushed to the forefront based on this mentality.
Silence of Human Rights Institutions Toward the Conspiracies
The attacks being waged today have reached a stage where they embody, at the highest levels, the civilization of the dominant man. This patriarchal system today, under the most brutal forms of capitalism, launches attacks on humanity, and practices assaults on women and children.
This situation can be described as a matter of existence or annihilation for the world and humanity. In every new phase of the Third World War, massacres occur, attacks are launched on society, culture, and morals, and women and children are killed. Women, in particular, are subjected to assaults and face various forms of violence.
When we see this reality, we realize that arguments related to human rights and international law have also lost their value, and that their content has been completely emptied of its meaning. Although the entire world is aware of ISIS's anti-woman mentality, human rights institutions and legal bodies do nothing. Likewise, the dominant powers that adopt the same mentality never raise their voice, so that their interests are not endangered.
As is known, the dominant powers themselves are the owners of this project, this vision, and this mentality. As for ISIS and the armed groups it created, they still appear until today under different names, and turn into a plague threatening humanity.
Kurdish Women Dealt the Biggest Blow
As is known, ISIS is an extremist terrorist organization founded on jihadist ideology. This organization, which has no connection to humanity, revealed its true face through its recent attacks, especially through the mentality that has continued to hide its existence in Syria and Rojava until today.
ISIS's mentality is known for its practices based on violence, massacres, and injustice. During the ongoing integration process, this mentality, emanating from the mentality of the dominant man, practices its assaults on women, targeting the symbols of Kurdish society and its values. This mentality that practices assaults today is fundamentally unable to accept its defeat before Kurdish women, and therefore launches brutal attacks on them.
In the period extending from 2014 to 2017, Kurdish women were at the forefront of those who waged the battles and confronted this brutal mentality. Kurdish women fought, and contributed to saving humanity from these unethical assaults. The biggest defeat of this racist and brutal mentality was launched from the land of Kurdistan, where Kurdish women dealt the strongest blow to this murderous and fanatical mentality.
At the same time, one of the objectives of these dark forces is to fuel the conflict between Kurds and Arabs, to strengthen the approach of backward nationalism, and to empty leader Öcalan's thought of its content. Based on that, defending Rojava, opposing genocide, developing joint resistance, and protecting the gains of the women's revolution require mobilizing the Kurdish people everywhere.
In the face of democratic integration, backward nationalist forces, especially Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, seek to empty the spirit of the unity of peoples of its content, and use it to serve their interests. Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham works practically to spread distrust toward the integration path and the democratic nation model, with the aim of imposing the mentality of dominance, assault, and brutal practices.
This orientation, which has turned into a lack of trust and tense reactions, has led to launching attacks on the values of the Kurdish people, especially Kurdish women, reaching direct assaults on them. If the Kurdish and Arab peoples do not transcend the mentality of dominance, these practices will serve the plans of the ISIS mentality.
The attacks witnessed in Rojava, especially in Hasakah, are still ongoing. Therefore, the responsible parties must apologize to the Kurdish people and Kurdish women, and work urgently to transcend the current state of tension and turmoil.
Multiple components live together in the cities of Rojava, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and Assyrians. If we do not entrench democratic integration in these areas permanently, we will again be before the risk of the outbreak of conflicts between peoples.
Escalating Resistance to Protect Women's Dignity and the Gains of the Revolution
The attacks witnessed in Hasakah today, especially the incident that occurred on 13 October, stem from the same mentality of dominance and assault.
The actions toward the image of comrade Sara (Sakine Cansiz) represent behavior that transcends societal morals, and the assaults committed are categorically rejected and cannot be accepted in any form. At the same time, an exceptional struggle and resistance must be developed in the face of the attacks of the state supporting armed groups, which are increasing in Rojava.
We, women, must raise our voices high, and not allow this issue to be forgotten or underestimated. No person or force has the right to assault a Kurdish female revolutionary in this way. In the face of these brutal practices imposed on society, which are inconsistent with its culture and morals, a radical and firm struggle must be waged.
Society must declare its position clearly, especially in the face of the dark forces that are organized and managed by individuals and institutions, with the necessity that women be at the forefront of this position. By rallying around the revolution of the people and women, and strengthening solidarity and resistance in the spirit of Sakine Cansiz in whom life is renewed anew, the level of struggle should be raised and these racist aggressor forces should not be allowed to impose their will.
