Jordan: Gender quota in parliament should be increased

Inter-Ministerial Committee on Women's Empowerment of Jordan demanded the increase of the women’s quota in the Jordanian parliament.

News Center- Inter-Ministerial Committee on Women's Empowerment of Jordan made recommendations to the House of Representatives. The committee recommended increasing the quota of women in the parliament to at least 30 percent.

“The women’s quota in the parliament should be increased to 30%,” the committee recommended the citizens with disabilities should also take part in political parties.

In Jordan’s mixed-member proportional electoral system, 108 members are elected from 45 single or multi-member districts, 15 seats are reserved for women.
