DEM: New acronym of People’s Equality and Democracy Party
Ayşegül Doğan, Spokesperson of the People’s Equality and Democracy Party, announced that the new acronym of the party is “DEM”.
Ankara- The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party has announced that the new acronym of the party is “DEM”.
Holding a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Ankara, Ayşegül Doğan, Spokesperson of the People’s Equality and Democracy Party, said, “We had to change the acronym of our party because the acronym HEDEP resembled the abbreviation of the previously closed HADEP (People’s Democracy Party). The Turkish Supreme Court rejected the acronym HEDEP although there was no party using this acronym before. The reason why the court rejected the acronym was obvious; the rejection was a new judicial obstacle against us before the local elections.”
DEM: New acronym of the party
“We had to found dozens of parties in 30 years. Despite everything, we have managed to win the hearts of people; we have managed to leave a mark in our history of struggle. We have managed to lead the history of struggle for democracy, freedom, justice and peace in Turkey. We submitted the new acronym of our party to the Turkish Supreme Court. Our party’s news acronym is DEM. We do not expect a new rejection. Although we have changed our party’s acronym, the struggle of our party has not been changed. Our party struggles for freedom, equality, democracy, justice and peace.”
