Yemen- The 11th hearing of the trial opened against Yemeni model Intisar Al Hammadi and her two colleagues, Yasmine and Yusra Al-Mokadam, who have been held in Sanaa prison since last February, was held by the Court of First Instance of the Houthis.

According to received reports, the hearing was held on October 3 and the defense lawyers demanded the criminal charges against their clients be dropped. Intisar Al Hammadi and her two colleagues denied the charges against them. Some of our sources told NuJINHA that Intisar Al-Hammadi's health condition is deteriorating as she suffers from psychological problems due to the arbitrary procedures she has faced.

Social media activists launch a campaign

Noura Al-Jarawi, who has worked on the issue of women detainees in Houthi prisons, made a statement about Intisar Al Hammadi and said, “The Houthi group’s baseless and illegal trials against Intisar Al Hammadi and Yasmine and Yusra Al-Mokadam in prison is the flagrant violation of human rights. The international community should stand by us for the release of these girls.” Noura Al-Jarawi emphasized that the women have been held in prison since last February, “They have been subjected to physical and psychological torture and violence in prison.” Pointing to the campaign to be launched for the release of the women, Noura Al-Jarawi, “We ask you to stand by us for the release of female detainees in Houthi prisons. We will launch an international campaign to stop unfair trials against women in Yemen.”

They are behind bars for 8 months

Intisar al-Hammadi and her two colleagues were arrested by plainclothes security forces at a checkpoint in Sana’a on 20 February. Although many campaigns have been launched for the release of three women until now, the three women have been held in prison for eight months.
