Summary of proceedings against HDP MP Saliha Aydeniz

The summary of proceedings against HDP MP Saliha Aydeniz has been sent to the Ministry of Justice.

News Center- The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared a summary of proceedings against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP and Democratic Regions Party(DBP) co-chair Saliha Aydeniz on charges of "resisting the police", "insulting and injuring a public official", "meetings and demonstration marches without permission".

The summary of proceedings has been sent to the Ministry of Justice. After the Ministry's examination, the proceedings will be sent to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and then to the Grand National Assembly (TBMM) with a request of "lifting her parliamentary immunity”.

What happened?

50 activists were detained during the Gemlik March in Istanbul on 12 June to protest the isolation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan. HDP MPs protested the police blockade and discussed the police. Then, Saliha Aydeniz was targeted for “pushing” a police officer.

Speaking about Saliha Aydeniz, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “She will pay the price of this action in front of the law. We will quickly remove her immunity and show that people like her can't live under this roof."
