Nebiye Merttürk faces 6 years prison sentence for tweeting “#Photograph of AleynaÇakır's killers”
Community centers (Halkevleri) Chairperson Nebiye Merttürk has faced six years and five months prison sentence for tweeting “#Photograph of AleynaÇakır's killers” under a picture taken by Ümitcan Uygun being accused of killing Aleyna Çakır in front of the pictures President Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli.
News Center- A lawsuit has been opened against Community centers (Halkevleri) Chairperson Nebiye Merttürk for tweeting “#Photograph of AleynaÇakır's killers” under a picture taken by Ümitcan Uygun being accused of killing Aleyna Çakır in front of the pictures President Tayyip Erdoğan and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Leader Devlet Bahçeli.
Nebiye Merttürk posted the tweet on June 6, 2020 and wrote, “#Photograph of AleynaÇakır's killers…This photograph explained everything in a way that hundreds of words couldn’t. Who is behind so many femicides, who and what ideology is behind the murderers? Here!”
An investigation was opened against Nebiye Merttürk for “insulting President Erdoğan and Devlet Bahçeli”. Nebiye Merttürk has faced six years and five months prison sentence.
