Justified verdict in Kobanê trial released
A Turkish court has released a 32,000-page justified verdict in the Kobanê trial.

Ankara- On May 16, 2024, Figen Yüksekdağ, former Co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), was sentenced to 30 years and three months in prison and Selahattin Demirtaş, former Co-chair of the HDP, was sentenced to 42 years in prison on terrorism charges. 108 politicians stood trial in the trial and 24 of them were sentenced to prison.
A Turkish court released a 32,000-page justified verdict in the Kobanê trial on Wednesday after one year of the verdict. Now, the defendants can appeal to a higher court seeking to overturn the convictions and request their release.
In the final hearing in the Kobanê trial on May 16, 2024, Ahmet Türk, former Co-mayor of Mardin, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for “membership in an illegal organization”; Kurdish politicians Gültan Kışanak and Sebahat Tuncel were sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges of “membership in an illegal organization”; Ayla Akat Ata, former HDP MP, was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison for “membership of an illegal organization”; Emine Ayna was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the charge of “membership in an illegal organization”.
