Man accused of killing Duygu Delen arrested again
In the trial over the death of 17-year-old Duygu Delen, who fell from the balcony of Mehmet Kaplan’s house, a court ruled the release of Mehmet Kaplan under house arrest. Mehmet Kaplan has been sent to jail again.
News Center- 11th High Criminal Court released Mehmet Kaplan, who was arrested pending trial over the death of 17-year-old Duygu Delen, under house arrest on June 16. After the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed against this ruling, Mehmet Kaplan has been sent to prison again.
What had happened?
On August 13, 2020, 17-year-old Duygu Delen died by falling from the fourth floor of a five-story building located in the Batıkent neighborhood of Gaziantep’s Şehitkamil district. Mehmet Kaplan alleged that Duygu Delen committed suicide. Mehmet Kaplan was arrested for the suspicious death of Duygu Delen. Mehmet Kaplan has been accused of “willfully killing of Duygu Delen” and “sexual abusing of a child”. Mehmet Kaplan has faced aggravated life sentence and up to 32 years prison sentence.
