Journalists Ayşe Kara and Ruken Demir appeared in court today. Ayşe Kara faces up to 15 years in prison while the hearing of the trial against journalist Ruken Demir has been adjourned.

News Center- Journalists Ayşe Kara and Ruken Demir appeared in court today. The hearing of the trial against journalist Ayşe Kara was held by the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court. Ayşe Kara has faced up to 15 years in prison for being a member of the Free Women's Congress (KJA), which was shut down in 2016 by an emergency decree issued under the state of emergency in Turkey and the Free Journalists' Association (ÖGC). The next hearing will be held on November 9, 2021.

Journalist Ruken Demir appeared in court

The 8th hearing of the trial opened against journalist Ruken Demir was held by the Izmir 19th High Criminal Court. Ruken Demir is accused of “being a member of a (terrorist) organization). Ruken Demir’s lawyer Zafer İncin demanded his client's release but the court rejected the demand and adjourned the case to January 20, 2022.
