Amed- The second hearing of the trial against Safiye Alağaş, the news director of Jinnews, on the charge of “membership in in a terrorist organization” was held on Wednesday by the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court.

The hearing was monitored by the Mesopotamia Women Journalists’ Association, the Dicle Fırat Journalists’ Association and lawyers Geórgia Canura and Carolina Saad, members of the Clooney Foundation for Justice based in the Netherlands.

The hearing postponed

In her defense, journalist Safiye Alağaş said that she had nothing to add to her defense at the first hearing.

Her lawyer Resul Temur underlined that his client was invited to attend a meeting abroad and demanded the travel ban issued against his client be lifted. The court rejected his demand and postponed the hearing to February 22, 2024.
