Dersim- Female students of the Munzur University came together at the university campus on March 7 to celebrate International Women’s Day. They sang and danced during the celebration. After five months, a notification was sent to them on charges of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” on March 7, 2022. The female students were demanded to submit a written statement by the administrations of the Tunceli Girls’ Dormitory of the Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution (KYK) and Ehli Beyt Girls’ Dormitory.

Notice sent to female students

In the notification sent to the students by the administrations, three questions were asked to the students and they were demanded to submit a written statement in seven days.

“It is claimed that you attended the event held for International Women’s Day in front of the Engineering Faculty of the Tunceli University on March 7, 2022 and that you propagandized for a terrorist organization during the event. You are demanded to write your statement below,” the administration wrote in the notification.

The students stated that the notification sent after five months is pointless and that demanding a written statement from them by the administrations of the dormitories is illegal. Pointing out that some of their friends were expelled from the dormitories for celebrating Newroz, the students said that they only sang and danced during the event held for the International Women’s Day.
