6 of 16 detained women sent to prison
16 of the 24 women, who were detained within the scope of an investigation opened by the Diyarbakır Prosecutor’s Office, were sent to a court. The court has ruled the release of 10 women while six women have been sent to prison.
Amed – On April 5, 24 women were detained within the scope of an investigation opened by Diyarbakır Prosecutor’s Office. Yesterday, 16 of the 24 women were sent to the court after being questioned at the police station. The names of women, who were sent to the court are; Socialist Women's Assemblies (SKM) Central Executive Board member Satiye Ok, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Remziye Tosun’s press consultant Gurbet Özel, HDP MP Dersim Dağ’s former press consultant Leyla Akgül, Hasibe Akçay, Peace Mother Nezahat Teke, Jinnews reporter Beritan Canözer, Ayşen Kanuş, MED-DER Co-chair Şilan Elmas Kan, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Central Executive Board member Zeynep Üren, Diyarbakır Women’s Academy member Figen Aras, Nurşen Akbal, Şehriban Zuğurli, Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activist Zelal Bilgin, Eylem Ceylan and Nalan Özen.
6 women have been sent to prison
Satiye Ok, Leyla Akgül, Ayşen Kanuş, Nurşen Akbal, Şehriban Zuğurli, Figen Aras tutuklanırken have been sent to prison by Diyarbakır Court of Peace on Duty. Zeynep Üren, Eylem Ceylan, Sevim Biçici, Beritan Canözer, Ayşen Kanuş, Gurbet Özel, Şilan Elmas Kan, Nalan Özen and Hasibe Akçay have been released under judicial control and Nezahat Teke has been put under house arrest.
