Algerian women fashion designers aim to have their own brand

Algeria is among the countries where the number of women working from home is high. Despite the difficulties and challenges they face, they have proven their ability to achieve economic development and maintain their economic independence. Three women fashion designers are among these women. They aim to have their own brand.

Algeria- The situation of Algerian women working from home to achieve economic development became the focus of a social field study published by the Algerian Scientific Journals Platform. In the study, it is revealed that women working from home and their labor are effective in developing the economic situation of the country. We spoke to three fashion designers Raja Ben Ayad, Hind Berrached, and Assia Belouhabbal about the data of the study.

Raja Ben Ayad, a fashion designer in her thirties, is one of the women who have contributed to the development of the Tunisian economy. Stating that she has been interested in fashion design since her childhood, she said that she has attracted importance to the harmony of colors and clothes. “My mother is a tailor and she encourages me to be a fashion designer. I learned how to sew clothes and do handiworks while focusing on my lessons.”

She develops her own project

Raja Ben Ayad is now one of the best-known fashion designers in the country. After graduating from the university, she developed her own investment project as a fashion designer. She believes that people can improve themselves if they love their profession.

She has sold her products to many Arab countries, particularly to the Arab community in Europe. Speaking about the challenges she has faced, Raja Ben Ayad complained about the lack of materials she has used and the lack of employees. Underlining that she wants to open branches in other countries, she said, “I want my brand to be known all around the world. I also want to found a private institute to teach young women how they can be fashion designers.”

“I want to exhibit my designs”

Raja Ben Ayad is not the only woman developing her own project despite her young age. Algerian fashion designer Hind Berrached has been interested in fashion design since her childhood. She wants to strengthen herself economically and develop herself in fashion design. Her designs have attracted great attention in the local market. “I want to have a special place to exhibit my designs,” she told us.

She modernizes traditional dresses

Painter and fashion designer Assia Belouhabbal is also one of the women who have achieved economic independence. She modernizes traditional dresses of Algerian women. Stating that she loves her profession, Assia Belouhabbal said that she modernizes not only Algerian traditional dresses but also European and African traditional dresses.
