Lawsuit to be filed against Cengiz Holding's mining project

News Center- Kazdağları Ecology Platform announced that they will file a lawsuit against the Halilağa copper-gold porphyry deposit project of the Cengiz Holding. The platform members indicated that they will be in front of the Çanakkale Courthouse tomorrow at 14.00. Despite all objections, Turkey's Ministry of Environment and Urbanization approved the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for the project, which will affect dozens of villages in Çanakkale Bayramiç-Çan districts.
“Forests and agricultural lands will disappear”
“If the project is implemented, the water sources of the villages in the region will dry up and the agricultural lands will disappear. 540 hectares of forest and 43 hectares of agricultural lands will disappear,” the platform members warned.
