Shahba- The Women’s Committee has opened “Children’s Garden”, a kindergarten, in the Berxwedan and Serdem refugee camps for the children living in the camps and whose mothers work in the institutions of the Autonomous Administration. Only women work in the garden.

28-year-old Fatima Eli, who lives in a refugee camp in Shahba, is from the Bibil district of Afrin. She works in the garden. “When I heard about the project of the Women's Committee, I wanted to be a part of it,” she said, “We should see the children in the garden as our own children.  We should take good care of them. The mothers, who leave their children in the garden, are pleased with us.”

40-year-old Cemila Mihemed, the mother of two, is from the Hemame village of Afrin’s Jindires town. She is one of the women working in the children’s garden. “This project is a very successful project. Life in refugee camps is very difficult. I still cannot believe that we were displaced from Afrin,” she told us.
