Shehba – People of Syria have materially and morally suffered from the ongoing war in the country. Many families lost their houses and experienced inhumane practices by armed groups. Many people who have lost contact with their relatives during the war are still waiting for their return. Women, who have lost contact with their relatives, spoke to our news agency.

“All I want is to receive news from my husband abducted by ISIS”

50-year-old Eyşe Mihemed, the mother of seven, is from Nêrebiyê village of Shehba city. She hasn’t received any news from her husband Ehmed Ebido since he was abducted by ISIS eight years ago. “I became both mother and father to my children when my husband was abducted.  I faced many difficulties until I raised my children. When ISIS members entered our village, they took my husband for being a Kurd. I had to leave my village three times. We settled in the Fafinê district after the liberation of the region.”

Eyşe Mihemed works for Women’s House to build a future for her children. “I have faced many difficulties since ISIS took my husband. All I want is to receive news from my husband abducted by ISIS. I still look for him and I am hoping to find him.”

She has looked for her son for four years

Cemile Murad Eli, the mother of eight, is from Kurika village of Afrin. She lost contact with her son Xebat Murad in the attacks on Afrin. “My son has been missing for four years and I look forward to receiving news from him. I live in hope of seeing my son one day. We don’t know where he is. All I want is to hug my son again. If my son and my country become free, I will be happy. We lived in our homeland but Erdoğan attacked us and occupied Afrin. We were forcibly displaced from Afrin to Shehba. Although international organizations see this, they remain silent. We have faced many difficulties in the camp. But we will resist until we return to our homeland.”

She lives in a refugee camp with her children

Şamira Xelil, the mother of three, is from Shêxorzê village of Afrin’s Bilbilê district. She has lost contact with her husband Omer Biro in the Turkish attacks on Afrin. “My husband has been missing for four years and I haven’t received any news from him until now. After my husband disappeared, I shouldered all burdens. I don’t know where I should look for my husband. I live in the Serdem Camp with my children. My only hope is to receive news from my husband.”
