All she wants is now to see again. Her dream is to be a doctor to treat patients and help people in need.

“My daughter has lost her future”

Zeyin El-Şam El-Mohammed’s mother Fatma El-Hasan told us that her daughter is in pain and has lost her future. “My daughter has lost her eyes and one of her arms. Actually, my daughter has lost her future. She cannot even play with her friends,” Fatma El-Hasan said. Recalling when her daughter lost her eyes and arm, she said, “My daughter was injured in a landmine explosion at the age of seven while she was playing with her friends. She found a strange object on the ground and carried it because she did not know what it was. While playing with it, it exploded and injured my daughter and two other children.”

Call on international organizations to clear landmines and other explosives left by ISIS

“My daughter is not the only victim of the landmines and other explosives left by ISIS,” she said, “A pregnant woman was killed, and a girl was injured in the landmines explosions. The landmines and other explosives left by ISIS continue to destroy our lives and the future of our children. I call on the international organizations to clear landmines and other explosives left by ISIS in our region.”
