Tunisia- The Centre for Research, Studies, Documentation and Information on Women (CREDIF) affiliated to Ministry of Women, Family, Children, and Seniors (MFFES) in Tunisia announced their program titled, “7-day Activism for Struggle” with the motto, “Right is Right” to raise awareness about violence against women.

Najla Alani, General Director of the CREDIF) spoke to our news agency about their campaign. She said that they will carry out works on gender-based violence, female victims of violence, the problems faced by refugee women. Najla Alani noted that they aim to prevent violence against women, especially in the digital world, and they will carry out awareness-raising activities to minimize it.

CREDIF has worked for years in Tunisia to achieve gender equality and to combat all forms of gender-based discrimination against people in difficult situations. Najla Alani highlighted that the organization speeds up its works due to “the unprecedented increase” in violence against women. “We focus on changing the discriminatory style that fundamentally discusses gender roles,” she said.

The motto of the program: “Right is Right”

Najla Alani drew attention to the increasing violence against women during lockdowns- quarantines imposed in the country in March and June last year despite existing laws protecting women against violence.

We asked Najla Alani why they chose “Right is Right” motto for the program. She stated that the motto reflects the human rights dimension and that it also summarizes the activities of the CREDIF. It will organize many workshops and seminars for women and refugee women in Tunisia about how they can protect themselves from digital abuse, harassment.

Many works will be carried out

The CREDIF will open a digital clinic for women between June 10 and 11. It will also provide unconditional psychological support to women. A workshop entitled, “Violence against women and the role of media and digital security in the digital world,” will be organized by the CREDIF for women journalists.
