Young musician Mirav Silêman wants to improve her talent

Mirav Silêman, who discovered her talent at a young age, loves the dengbêj culture and wants to sing and play instruments like Kurdish musicians Mihemed Şêxo, Ziber Salih, and Hozan Dino.

Qamishlo - Every human being can develop their talents after discovering them. Mirav Silêman is one of the women discovering their talents at a young age. When she was 13 years old, she discovered her talent in music. Now, she plays saz, a musical instrument, and sings.

“I started playing saz when I was 13 years old”

Mirav Silêman told us that she started playing saz and singing when she was 13 years old. “I am from Qamishlo and 16 years old now. I've been singing since I was a child. As I got older, I wanted to combine my beautiful voice with saz. Now I both play the saz and sing. My family encouraged and supported me to play the saz and sing. Now I can say that saz and songs have a different place in my life,” she said.

“People can overcome all challenges if they want”

Speaking about the challenges she faced, Mirav Silêman said, “Some people told me that playing the saz while singing is difficult to learn. Some people even told me that I couldn’t learn them. I overcame all challenges with the support of my family. Now, I am interested in playing guitar and kemancha. I will learn how to play these instruments.”

“My love for art helped me to improve my talent”

Mirav Silêman also talked about how she learned to play the saz, “I took courses for two months. After learning the basic information, I improved myself in playing the saz. My love for art helped me to improve my talent. I'm proud of myself for learning how to sing and play the saz.”

Stating that she wants to sing and play instruments like Kurdish musicians Mihemed Şêxo, Ziber Salih, and Hozan Dino, Mirav Silêman said, “More women should sing. I love the dengbêj culture and folk songs. I love Kurdish musicians Mihemed Şêxo, Ziber Salih and Hozan Dino, and Mirav Silêman and want to sing and play instruments like them.”
