Stranên Keziya Sor: Musical film telling women’s revolution screened in NE Syria
Stranên Keziya Sor, a musical film telling the history of the international women's struggle and the women’s revolution in Rojava was screened in four cities of North and East Syria on March 3.
News Center- Stranên Keziya Sor, the first musical film shot in North and East Syria in cooperation with the Hîlala Zêrîn Women’s Cultural Movement, the Mesopotamia Culture and Art Movement, the Pargin Cultural Institute and the Welat Art, were screened in four cities of North and East Syria on March 3, 2024.
Telling the history of the international women's struggle and the women’s revolution in Rojava, the film was screened in Qamishlo, Kobanê, Raqqa and Tabqa. Before the film screening in Kobanê, artist Dilara Şeyh Demir said, “The film tells the women’s revolution; how women improved themselves, how they began to participate in the military and how they became fighters and commanders. We dedicate the film to martyrs and women all over the world.”
Artist Gulbihar Seydo made a speech before the film screening in Raqqa. “The International Women’s Day and Newroz are approaching. These days are important for women,” she said. “The beauty and the most beautiful colors of spring unite in March with the women’s struggle for freedom. Long live the unity of women, long live women’s struggle for freedom. Women crown their struggle with victory,” said Nur El Qitran.
Film starred 200 women
The film lasting 20 minutes is named after Kurdish politician Sakine Cansız, who was murdered in Paris on January 9, 2023. It starred 200 women and was shot in Raqqa and Jazira Canton.
