Qamishlo- Women reveal the beauty inside them through various artistic ways. Art always makes life better. 19-year-old Cihan Hiso, who lives in the city of Qamishlo, NE Syria, draws different shapes on materials, such as wood, and paints them to give soul to them.

She is inspired by her father

Speaking about her interest in art and how art affects her life, Cihan Hiso said, “I have been interested in art since my childhood. My father is a painter and I am inspired by him. After graduating from primary school, I had free time and I searched on the internet about different painting styles. I can say that I learned how to draw by watching videos. In 2019, I attended an exhibition with the works I produced. It was a successful step for me. Apart from my work, the most important thing for me is success and honesty. I don’t aim to earn money from my works; my aim is to show that women are successful in every part of life.”

She gives soul to materials with colors

Stating that each of her works has a story, Cihan Hiso said, “I wanted to paint on wood because very few people paint on wood in Qamishlo. I wanted to change people’s perspectives about art and give them something new.  I wanted to give soul to materials. When you combine materials with colors, you can create a different story. Art is the embroidery of life.”

“People can do whatever they want”

Underlining that she has difficulties in finding materials for her paintings, Cihan Hiso continued to talk as follows: “I first draw shapes on wood and then paint them by using acrylic paint techniques. I work hard to become a famous painter. People can do whatever they want if they just set their heart to it. Social media platforms are very popular recently. So I created a social media account in order that more people see my works.”
