Mahabad- 23-year-old Seher Ademi lives in Tehran, capital of Iran. She is a student and very popular for her pencil drawings. Despite her young age, she teaches those who want to learn how to draw. “Although the people’s view of art is discouraging, I follow my dreams and wrong thoughts do not affect me. I have been interested in drawing since my childhood and I do not think I will give up drawing,” she says.

“The characters motivated me”

Stating that she has been interested in drawing since her childhood, Seher says, “I started drawing when I was a child. I had a special talent in drawing. I liked watching cartoons and the cartoon characters motivated me to draw more.”

She is also a midwife

Speaking about the people’s view of art, Seher says, “The stereotypes saying that art has no future, that the artist is always poor led me not to see this art as a job. My family and friends encouraged me to keep drawing. I work as a midwife to earn money. Drawing is a way of life for me. I love drawing. It has become more of a profession for me than a field of interest.”

“It's never too late to start”

Seher Ademi says that if she had the freedom to choose her gender, she would choose to be a woman again. “Being a woman is very special and beautiful. I want to tell all women that they should follow their passions and dreams and not give up. In order to succeed, you should be patient. Sometimes you get very tired, but if you are passionate about what you do, you will reach the position that you want to reach. It’s never too late to start.”
