Manbij- Necm Castle, located just above the Euphrates River within the borders of Manbij, is one of the most important tourist destinations in the region. According to the local sources, the history of the Necm Castle dates back to 68 AD. The castle, which was built centuries ago, manages to survive and makes a strong impression on people with its architecture.

No one knows who built the castle, which has hosted many civilizations throughout history. Inside the castle is like a small city with its inns, hammams, workplaces, bakeries, and many rooms for animals. The local people say the walls of the castle were built after the occupation of the Hamdanoğulları in 941.

The people visit the castle, which is surrounded by 3 walls, by taking boats from the center of Manbij or from Sirine in Kobanê over the Euphrates River. There are different symbols as well as Arabic inscriptions on the castle and its inner area.

After the liberation of Manbij from ISIS, the castle has been put under protection. Although the local people give information about the history of the castle, no serious work has been carried out about the history of the Necm Castle yet.
