The story of Hêza
The documentary is about a Yazidi woman who had been enslaved during the attack of ISIS on Shengal that started on 3 August 2014. It tells what she’d lived through at the hands of ISIS, how she managed to escape, and how she carried on with her life after her escape.
After being abducted by ISIS, Heza was taken to Raqqa. She tried to kill herself many times. She managed to escape in 2015 and returned to Shengal. She joined the Yazidi (Êzîdxan) Women’s Units (YJŞ) and became a commander of the YJŞ.
She joined the operation launched to liberate Raqqa. After the liberation of the city, she found the family, who had helped her to escape ISIS in Raqqa. This documentary is a living testimony of Hêza’s pain and suffering and her fight for justice.
