Her hobby becomes her profession

Hividar Belek, who has created many tile artworks for years, wants to open her workshop. “Producing something motivates me. This art gives me a space to breathe,” she told us.

Amed- Hividar Belek began to work on tile art as a hobby but her hobby became her profession. Now, she wants to open her workshop to teach this art to all women. She first shapes ceramics to produce products such as plates, vases, and cups and then paints them. 
“Tile art is like a therapy”
Four years ago, Hividar Belek decided to attend a ceramic tile course. After taking the course for a while, she began to create tile artworks. She hasn’t had a workshop yet so she keeps creating tile artworks at home. “I became unemployed and I looked for something to spend my days. And I decided to attend a ceramic tile course. I felt good while creating tile artworks. Actually, this art was a hobby for me at the beginning. Then, it became my profession. Tile art is like s therapy for me. You listen to yourself when you create tile artworks. It is another world for me.”

“I draw and paint on all kinds of objects, including vases, plates, and cups. I combine the pieces of tiles to make a painting.  When I realized that I have a talent for it, I continued to work on it. I have created many tile artworks for four years. I believe that I create very good works. I began to create tile artworks as a hobby but it becomes my profession. I hope I will have a workshop soon to teach this art to other women,” she told us.
“Women shouldn’t be stuck in houses”
“When I work, paint tiles, I feel like I am in another world,” Hividar Belek said, “It gives me a space to breathe. Women shouldn’t be stuck in houses. We know that there are thousands of women spending their lives at home; they care for their children and homes. Art opens the doors of different worlds. Women have the right to work on whatever they want. I want to open a workshop to teach this art to all women. This art will create a space for women to take a breath.”
