Hanieh Tavassoli to boycott Fajr Film Festival
Iranian actress Hanieh Tavassoli has announced on her Instagram that she will boycott Iran's annual Fajr International Film Festival.
News Center-Fajr Film Festival, which has been held in Iran's capital Tehran since 1982, is boycotted by many filmmakers and actors this year. Iranian actress Hanieh Tavassoli has announced on her Instagram that she will boycott the festival.
Recalling her role in the film named, “Why don't you cry?” she wrote, “I had a role in the film named “Why don't you cry?”. Despite the name of the film, I have been crying for several months and I do not have the mental strength to participate in the festival.”
In her post, Hanieh Tavassoli condemned the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran’s “morality” police and she announced her support to the nationwide protests that started in the country on September 16, 2022.
