Arts education for children of Shengal
The people of Shengal, who have formed their self-governance in all sphere of life after the genocide attacks, held an arts course for their children.
Shengal- The Yazidi people of Shengal have preserved their culture despite all genocidal attacks faced by them for centuries. Now, they pass down their cultural traditions to the next generation. The culture and arts course held by the Yazidi Women's Aid Network (Kurdish: Tevna Alîkariya Jinen Êzidî) for Yazidi children ended. 15 children received their certificates.
Speaking to NuJINHA about the course, Yazidi Women’s Aid Network member Radiya Hesen said that 15 children successfully completed the course. The culture and art course started in July and ended yesterday. “Children were very happy to be able to attend the course,” Radiya Hesen told us.
They will organize more courses
“The courses ended but we will organize more courses for children,” Radiya Hesen said, “We will continue to teach children their culture, music and folklore. Children under and above 15 attended the course. We will also organize different cultural courses and activities for young people above 15.”
Dinya Bapîr is one of the children attending the course. She thanked the organizers of the course for giving them the opportunity to learn more about their culture, music and folklore. “I am very happy to be able to attend this course. I think what I learned during the course will be very useful for me in the future,” she said.
The children, who completed the course, received their certificates.
