Governorship blocks criminal complaint filed against ŞÖNİM

An Iranian woman named Z.N. was raped at Edremit Kurubaş Deportation Centre. Her lawyers weren’t allowed to see their client by the Center for Preventing and Monitoring Violence (ŞÖMİN). The lawyers filed a criminal complaint against ŞÖMİN officials but the governorship didn’t allow an investigation to be opened.
Van-A refugee woman called Z.N.was sent to Kurubaş Deportation Centre located in Edremit district of Van province. She was raped by security officers named İ.H.K. and Y.V. and an unknown person at the center. After the first hearing of the trial, Z.N. was sent to the Center for Preventing and Monitoring Violence (ŞÖMİN, within the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. The Iranian woman’s lawyers demanded to talk with her to get more information about the incident; however the lawyers were prevented by the center officials.
Governorship didn’t allow
Ebru Demirtepe and Mahmut Kaçan, the lawyers of Z.N., filed a criminal complaint to the Public Prosecutor of Van against the center’s deputy manager and recording officer of ŞÖMİN for “official misconduct”. The Van Governorship reportedly didn’t allow an investigation to be opened against ŞÖNİM.
