All-women district market sellers: We don’t want men to work at the market
Diyarbakır’s Bağlar Municipality was won by HDP in the last local election but the elected mayor was replaced by the government-appointed trustee. The appointed trustee (or unelected mayor) wants to place men in Turkey’s first all-women district market called, “Jiyan District Market”, but women working at the market don’t want men to work at the market. “We work here to make money for our families. We will not leave here. We will resist to the end,” say women.
