YPJ: ‘We will continue to fight until we root occupiers out of our land’
On the 5th anniversary of the occupation of Afrin, the YPJ issued a statement saying, “We promise our comrades, who lost their lives while defending Afrin and our people that we will continue to fight until we root occupiers out of our land.”
News Center- The General Command of the Women's Defense Units (YPJ) issued a statement on the 5th anniversary of the occupation of Afrin.
“On the 5th anniversary of the occupation of Afrin, we declare that we will avenge our martyrs with the patriotism of our people and that we will fight with the spirit of the martyrs of the Afrin resistance and defeat occupiers in our country,” the statement said.
The statement added, “Those who do not accept the will of the people and the enemies of democracy and freedom try to destroy free land and the existence of a free society through genocide, massacre and occupation. The current threats and attacks by the Turkish occupying state against Rojava and North and East Syria are the result of this mentality of the power aiming to commit genocide.
Our people resisting attacks and threats of the Turkish state fight for freedom everywhere. Our people fight for freedom in the resistance areas. Our people, who clearly took up their position against the Turkish state's air strikes on November 19, defended their country and revolution from Shehba to Kobanê and to Dêrik once again.
“We are a defense force that embodies the power and will of our people. Therefore, we will continue our fight until we defeat all occupiers in our lands. We promise our comrades, who lost their lives while defending Afrin, and our people that we continue to fight until we root occupiers out of our land.”
