Til Temir (Tell Tamer)– Syria has entered a new process since November 27, 2024. The fall of the Assad regime in Damascus started a new political and diplomatic process in the country. Since November 27, the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions have intensified their attacks on North and East Syria, aiming at reaching Kobanê by passing the Tishreen Dam after taking control of Shahba, Til Rıfat (Tell Rifaat) and Manbij.
In North and East Syria, an unprecedented resistance has been taking place against the attacks of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions. The Til Temir Military Council supports the resistance on the Tishreen Dam by targeting the military bases of the Turkish state and its factions.
The Women's Defense Units (YPJ) has also taken part in this resistance. “We are determined to resist,” the YPJ fighters emphasized in an interview with NuJINHA.
‘The main goal in 2025 is to ensure leader Apo’s physical freedom’
“First of all, we wish a happy New Year to the families of Abdullah Öcalan's comrades who were martyred during the revolution and our comrades, who keep fighting,” said YPJ fighter Zîlan Zagros. “Heavy attacks were carried out on Rojava and heavy prices were paid throughout 2024. The main goal in 2025 is to ensure leader Apo’s physical freedom. Those who want to break the will of women and destroy our revolution will be defeated.”
‘We support the resistance on the dam by carrying out effective actions’
The YPJ fighters support the resistance on the Tishreen Dam by carrying out effective actions on the Turkish military bases, Zîlan Zagros said. “They have intensified their attacks. Therefore, we support our comrades fighting at the frontline by carrying out effective actions on the military bases of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions. Victory will be ours because we have strong forces, a tradition of resistance and experiences full of successes.”
Commenting on the statements saying that the forces in North and East Syria should lay down their weapons, Zîlan Zagros said, “No one, including our enemies, should not think that we will lay down our weapons and return to our homes. We will be stronger and fight against them to protect our people. The aim of our enemies is to keep us away from fighting and make us give up. We will never give up and lay down our weapons. The enemy must lay down their weapons. Now, all people, especially women, stand by their military forces and resist the enemy. After 13 years of revolution, laying down our weapons is impossible. We will fight and resist more.”
‘Dirty war policies cannot affect our struggle for freedom’
“Many of our comrades were taken captive and killed in the attacks of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed armed groups in 2024,” said YPJ fighter Azadî Til Temir. “Revolution and freedom require serious prices and we are ready for everything. The recent attacks target women and the forces protecting women. These dirty war policies cannot affect our struggle for freedom. Our fight will be revenge for our martyred comrades, our comrades, who have been taken captive and will ensure the physical freedom of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan).
‘The aim is to occupy Rojava’
Azadî Til Temir spoke about the attacks by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions and said, “The aim of these attacks is to occupy Rojava and destroy the gains of the revolution in Rojava. The enemy aims to annihilate us by targeting women. The enemy uses its military technology to attack us while women respond to the attacks with their ideology. Not only Kurdish women but also Arab and Syriac women fight against the attacks.”
‘Either succeed or succeed’
Azadî Til Temir called on young women to join the YPJ. “Because our people never give up although they have faced attacks. Everyone should know very well that we will never leave our people unprotected and always defend them. We will not lay down our weapons; we will use them to protect women. As women, we will defend our revolution together.”
