Youth organizations in Makhmur: We will keep struggling against isolation
Youth organizations in the Makhmur refugee camp say they will continue to hold actions until they ensure the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Makhmur- The Makhmur Young Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Ciwanên Mexmur- TJCM) and the Makhmur Youth Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Ciwanên Mexmur- TCM) held many activities and protests for four months against the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The sit-in protest started by the youth organizations on December 10, 2022, was turned into a rotating hunger strike on February 1, 2023. On March 8, the hunger strike ended. The tent protest started by the TJCM and TCM on March 11 ended yesterday. Releasing a statement to end the tent protest, the youth organizations said that they would keep struggling and hold actions until they ensured the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.
After the press statement, the people chanted slogans such as “Bijî Serok Apo (English: Long live leader Apo)”, “Be Serok jiyan na be (English: No life without leader)” and “Happy birthday to our leader.”
