Shengal (Sinjar)- On January 24, 2023, the special units of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) and the Yazidi Sinjar Women's Units (YJŞ) launched an operation called “Operation Revenge” against the agent network under the control of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT). Yazidi women in Shengal say they support the operation launched by the YBŞ and YJŞ.

 ‘Betrayal has no difference from the genocide’

Edûl Elî, a Yazidi woman living in Shengal, said, “Yazidi women never allow agents to act in Shengal. We do not want the agents that target us. We will resist them as our hero Yazidi youth resisted the attacks against our people. Many people were killed by agents. We managed to get rid of the agents among us thanks to the philosophy of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). Yazidi women, who were abducted and sold in slave markets, should not be forgotten. Martyr Zerdeşt also said that he would fight to liberate the abducted Yazidi women before he was martyred. There is no difference between the genocide committed against the Yazidis on August 3, 2014 and the betrayal against the Yazidis. I support the operation launched by the YBŞ and YJŞ.”

‘They try to annihilate us by using agents’

Celîla Meto began to talk by thanking YBŞ and YJŞ. “These agents can sell their siblings for money. Since they could not annihilate us in the genocide, they now try to annihilate us by using agents. In 2014, Barzani sold us and now they are killing our young people. They should know very well that we have our own defense units now.”

‘All spies must be arrested’

Celîla Meto added that some people have already forgotten the genocide committed against them. “Unfortunately, some have already forgotten the genocide committed against us. The freedom fighters came to Shengal to protect us from ISIS in 2014. They left after forming the Yazidi defense units. We never accept the Yazidis, who kill their people. All spies must be arrested and brought to account. Our people should know themselves and never forget who are our enemies and who are our friends.”

 ‘We do not accept spies among us’

Filûs Nurî also talked about the operation launched against the agents in Shengal and said, “We thank defense units for clearing out the spies among us. We want to make more efforts to end the spies among us. We do not accept spies as Yazidis. They should surrender to the YBŞ-YJŞ and Yazidi Asayish and join them. They should not work for their enemies. We, as Yazidis, do not accept these spies to live among us.”
