Yazidi women plant 300 trees in Kesre Valley

300 trees have been planted in Shengal’s Kesre Valley by Yazidi women to mark the birthday of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Shengal (Sinjar)- Women continue to organize activities to mark the birthday of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan. In Shengal, Yazidi women gathered in Kesre Valley upon the call of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) and planted 300 trees.

 

TAJÊ member Edul Şemo made a speech before women planted 300 trees. Noting that they organize various activities to celebrate the birthday of Abdullah Öcalan, Edul Şemo said, “The birthday of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) is the birthday of all women. Happy birthday to leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) and to all women.” After her speech, the Kulîlken Êzidxan musical group of the Sitiya Nexşan Culture and Art Center took the stage. Then, women planted trees.

 

In an interview with NuJINHA, TAJÊ member Edul Elî, who planted a fig tree, said, “I wish a happy birthday to leader Apo. I planted a fig tree and wished for the freedom of leader Apo. I hope leader Apo will be free soon.”

TAJÊ member Tavaf İsmail said, “We plant trees as leader Apo asked from us. By planting trees, we beautify Shengal.”
